Directory + Wildcard Functionality - Error

Hi,

We are trying to run a process through the Alteryx Gallery which uses a Directory with Wildcard (in order to list all files). Then after we sort them to filter out the latest file.

The workflow works smoothly/fast in the designer but not in the Gallery.

Is there an issue with using the Directory function in the Gallery? Or is it the wildcard?

Hi @mystiflip 

The issue could be either path is not accessible by alteryx gallery or its not the full network path.

You can try to test with the input tool. You can connect an input tool with file on the file in the path and check whether it works. If it doesn't its path issue (either access or invalid)

It seems like the user from Alteryx service doesn't have access to that shared folder.

You other thing that might be happening is related to your path. If you have a shared folder mapped to a specific drive in your desktop, when uploading to the gallery, you need to change it to a unc format, as shown in the link below.

@mystiflip Can you run the app on the server, b/c if not then the problem has to do with how your server accesses your network drives or if it even has access to your SharePoints. 

The Alteryx Gallery is basically just a GUI that calls the server to run. And since most companies set up the Alteryx Server in a secure location, or even a cloud based one, the access given to them is limited. For example, you might not be able to ping your server b/c it uses a proxy server to access the internet.
