Delete top rows and make new starting row field names

Assuming this is an easy one but can't find anything on it. I know I can start data import on line 6, but how can I make line 6 as containing field names? As is it's deleting first five rows then creating one column of data all mashed together. I want the circled columns as fields.

@jark1294,

You're right.  It is easy... Alteryx easy.  Modify the option #7 to start the read later.

I've enclosed a packaged file that includes the excel input.  The read starts where the data really exists.

Thanks Mark, I was doing this and losing my mind over how it wasn't working. I think the input file was just in the wrong format...

In the interest of showing how this can be done for data in other formats:

  1. Open your data file
  2. Select the records to drop/ignore
    • Use the Sample tool to "Skip 1st N Records"
    • Use the Select Records tool
  3. Use the Dynamic Rename tool and "Take Field Names from First Row of Data"

There are also ways to do this using the Run Command tool...

How do I get that option 7 to appear so I can select the starting row?  My option 7 is "Do not show the % complete" checkbox.

Would love your help figuring this out.

Thanks!

Nevermind, it appears to be due to the xls format.

The position of that option depends on what filetype you are using?

I am running 10.6 and that option doesn't appear. A colleague who is running 11.6 has that option.

I'm on 2018.2 and I see the option to choose which row to start from when I bring in an xlsx and it's missing when I bring in an xls format.  Don't understand why it makes a difference, but I'm just going to change the format of the source file.

This was a really clean way for us to solve.  .XLS files don't have the "Start Data Import on Line" feature in the Input Data tool, so we used @tom_montpool's suggestion above, with success.
