Date Time Tool-Input

Hello Members,

Hope you all are safe and healthy.

I want to utilize my quarantine time, learning Alteryx tool and getting the designer certificate.

As I was going through all the tools functionality on the canvas, I was not able to find out which input tool we should be using when we select Date Time tool. I noticed there is only output node for this which confused me on how to input data into this.

I would appreciate if anyone can guide and help me to understand the usage.

Thanks,

Kaveri Jaiswal

Hi @kaverijaiswal,

The DateTime tool should have an input anchor.  The tool is used to convert dates and times in strings to Alteryx DateTime format or convert DateTime fields to string fields or extract information from DateTime fields.  Here is a link to the tool documentation:  https://help.alteryx.com/2020.1/DateTime.htm

Hi @kaverijaiswal - you use the DateTimeTool when attempt to convert string field to date, or date field to string. It gives you many options to setup your logic, most of which is self explanatory. Take a look at the attached link to get a better understanding of this tool:

Hi Abhilash,

Thanks for responding.

I would like to share the screenshot of the date time tool which seems to be a bit different. May be I am using the wrong one.

Hi @kaverijaiswal, the tool you highlighted just gives you current date time, the tool we were referring to is in the image below. I have also included a sample solution to help you understand its usage.
