Cross Tab vs Transpose

Hi All,

If we plan to use both Cross Tab and Transpose in our workflow, does the sequence matter?

If it does, how to realise which to use first? I always land up the right sequence using trial & error.

It would be great if someone helps me with the pattern to look for.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

@adityansnair
I remember them by a dummy way.
Cross Tab turns vertical columns to Horizontal while Transpose does the contrary.
And I always go over the samples of these two tools to refresh the usage.

Hi @adityansnair,

If you convert the way you see your data from columnar structure to row wise data, you can make use of Crosstab and if you want to convert it from row to columns you should use transpose. Please remember that Transpose will give you 2 columns in the output- NAME and VALUE.

Please go through the link below to get clear understanding along with some very good examples for these 2 tools.

I hope it helps.
