Conditional Column Value Selection

I'm also brand spanking new to Alteryx.

I want to be able to choose the output based on a conditional selection of the input file column values.

Here is an example of my input:

Desired output:

I've attached a sample Excel workbook with two sheets (input and output) that show what I'm hoping to do).

The idea is that if the logdate is populated but the effectivedate is empty, we'll get the logdate. If both, then we get the effectivedate. Etc.

I don't have an example project file to submit because I have absolutely no idea how to do this. I've searched for conditional selects and stuff here, but I'm not seeing any solutions.

Use a Formula tool.  You can update a current field or create a new field --- in this case, it's probably easier to update your EFFECTIVEDATE field.  Something like the attached.
