Dear all,
I have seen some queries on this subject but none had the answer I am looking for. I am on Designer 19.3 and trying to chart some vintage curves such as:
Seasoning | 2019 | 2020 |
0 | 123 | 123 |
1 | 123 | 123 |
2 | 123 | 123 |
3 | 123 | Null |
4 | Null | Null |
5 | Null | Null |
Using the insight tool, charts are dropping down to zero instead of being cut off where Null is. Is there any option that I might be missing?
Thanks for all your help in advance.

Hello @aetingu
Have you tried using a data cleanse tool to remove the "Null" value for a blank space?
This looks like it needs to be some form of Data Prep before the Insight tool.
Thanks!
Trevor
Hi @TrevorS
The NULL value is not a string, it is a blank value. Here is the data going in:
But when I chart it on Insight or Interactive Tool, this is what I get:
I thought it might be the scale, but it is not. When I zoom in it is zeroed.
I guess it would help if I shared the data. I will try to replicate the process with dummy values.
In the mean time, I have managed to create the charts I need using Python and passing the Charts using the Blob Convert Tool. But still curious to know why nulls are coming as zeros.
Thanks for your help,
Aksel
Hello @aetingu
You could try to pivot your data, like in the attached sample.
The other option would be to copy your full workflow and paste it into a new workflow and see if that works.
This is a known bug which is being looked into with the Insight Tool.
Hope this helps!
