Can I reference a user constant in the default text of an interface tool?

I am developing a standard macro in which I would like to allow the user to specify full paths for input and output files in text boxes, for which I also provide defaults.  Since the macro will be running both on the designer and the server, I would like to use user constants for the default values, so I can make all changes in one place.  There does not appear to be a way to do this, since when I test my macro (attached) the percentage signs I use to reference my user constants show up in the default values, along with the names, rather than the values of my default constants.  Is there any way around this?

How about setting the default value to something like "<Default Path>"?

Your action can convert that to the %User.Path% value.
