Alteryx with large teradata tables

Inactive User

Hi ,

I have never used Alteryx with Teradata before and wanted to understand if it is good for handling large amount of rows (4+ billion). I have used Alteryx with flat files and the performance has been great. Also , would like to know if Alteryx desktop version is sufficient enough or a server version is required.

Thanks,

Alteryx will certainly handle large amount of rows but of course it will take longer to process them.

The great thing with a Teradata source is that we have In-DB support for Teradata which means you can use the power of your Teradata server to do the initial processing of the data and then potentially bring back a smaller dataset to Alteryx to do further processing.

You should be able to get started with the desktop version and I'd recommend starting by looking at some of the material we have on the In-DB tools

Hi @AdamR_AYX ,

we recently started working with a client which has a large installation of Teradata that we need to query to extract values (no insert or updates, read-only access).

Our client reported us that a query which executes in 5-10 minutes in Teradata SQL Assistant (we are talking about 30 million records), it takes almost 2 hours to execute inside a Data Input tool.

Besides using the In-DB functions, are there any options to speed-up the standard queries?

Thanks,

Emanuele
