Error: "Alteryx is not installed error" when Installing Starter Kits

Error: “Alteryx is not installed. <Starter Kit Name> Starter Kit can not continue.”

 

Environment Details

 

At times, the following error may be encountered when installing a starter kit from Alteryx:

 

Alteryx is not installed. <Starter Kit Name> Starter Kit can not continue.

 

• Alteryx Designer
  • Version(s): > = 2021.2
• Alteryx Starter Kit

Cause

 

The "LastInstallDir" registry key in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SRC\Alteryx is missing.

Resolution

 

NOTE: Editing the registry may damage the system if done incorrectly. Please ensure you follow the exact steps. You may want to do a backup of the registry first by exporting Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SRC.

Please follow the steps below to address the error:
1. Open Registry (regedit).
2. Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SRC\Alteryx.
3. Right-click and select New > String Value.

4. Add the following values:

Name: LastInstallDir
Data: <Location of Alteryx Installation>

For example:

5. After this, install the starter kit.

I tired the above-mentioned steps. But still facing the same error

Worked for me, my path for the install was different though "C:\Program Files\Alteryx\bin" so if yours is different you need to make sure it matches your install path,

Also, if installing something on a machine that has Admin or Server installed, it is probably worthwhile to check the Machine key location:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SRC\Alteryx
