Instead of counting the number of occurrences of the delimiter and then specifying it is there a way to split column for:

1. Every occurrence of the specified delimiter?

2. Only the last occurrence

3. Only the first occurrence

Hey @mrao - agree that this may be useful - have you looked into building this yourself as a drop-in tool?

Essentially all this would be is a text-to-columns with a row based transform; a tile tool to give you a record ID with grouping; and then a configured sample tool to pick 1st; last; nth; etc?

I hope this idea gets included in the next release, since it is a standard feature in most other tools. I thought this forum could be used to submit ideas that could improve Alteryx designer for all.

You're right that this is the forum for suggesting new ideas - and given the breadth of the roadmap for Alteryx Designer it's often useful to talk about how people can satisfy their immediate need in-case something takes multiple release cycles to be delivered (which was the spirit of my reply).
