Split "Save Source & Description" YXDB Output option

In the Output Data tool, when the file type is YXDB, one of the options is to Save Source & Description.

Splitting these into "Save Source" and "Save Description" -- independent options -- would be useful.

Sometimes I don't want the file recipient to know how a field was derived but I want to include a description.

Right now there is no easy way of doing this.

Until that feature is added, one possible way to mask the Source metadata is to use Multi-Field Formula just prior to your Output. Configure as follows:
Select: All Types of
Click All button
Un-check the check boxes
Set the Expression to:
[_CurrentField_]

Mask Source

This will overwrite the Source metadata with "Formula: [_CurrentField_]" for all fields.

That was the suggestion that I got from Alteryx Client Services...it's OK, but not ideal.

I was thinking that with smaller files, I could use the Run Command tool to write the data out to a YXDB with "Save Source & Description" unchecked and then read the data right back in. This would make the source field "File:[FullPath]" -- so I'd need to be careful about where it was saved...

Another alternative would be to allow the Dynamic Rename tool to update the Source just like you can update the Description now...
