Cached Data

Bring back the Cache checkbox for Input tools. It's cool that we can cache individual tools in 2018.4.

The catch is that for every cache point I have to run the entire workflow. With large workflows that can take a considerable amount of time and hinders development. Because I have to run the workflow over and over just to cache all my data.

Add the cache checkbox back for input tools to make the software more user friendly.

We have it working, it is just being tested. So it should be available for the 2019.3 release.

Just realized this option is gone after upgrading to 2019.1

It saved me so much time from rerunning queries...

Right now my workaround it to save to yxdb file and read from that.

I'm stuck on 2018.3.7 because that's what our Alteryx server uses. How do I cache the input data while working on the workflow in that version?

@jrobiso2

In 2018.3.7 you are able to cache a tool by right-clicking any single output tool and selecting 'Cache and Run the Workflow', and this includes the input tools. However, this will require a run between each cache as you can only cache one tool at a time.

I've got 7 input sources (databases), each with roughly half a million rows. Cache on only 1 input isn't a great help 😞

@jrobiso2 In the latest releases, you are able to multi-select input tools and cache multiple at once. Additionally, the 'Cache Data' check box option was returned to the Input Data tool.
