For excel output, please use "Report Text" tool instead of "Report Header".

The only problem with this is that it merges the cells which makes the format a bit difficult to view.Is there anyway to prevent the merging of the cells?

Could you please try adding a visual layout tool before Report Header and set the layout. Something as below:
@deviseetharaman still i can't see the header in excel output.
