Which version should I download

Question

Hi, my name is Gabriela and this is my first contact with Alteryx. I'm at the license portal and I don't know which version of Alteryx designer, Alteryx Designer Patch and Predictive tools I should download, Admin or Non-Admin, or if I should download all of them. Can someone help me?

Download one version of Designer (Admin if you have rights, Non-Admin if not). You do not need both Admin and Non-Admin. You do not need the Patch unless you are updating. Predictive tools are optional and can be installed later. It's a good way to download the same version as your colleague, which would avoid some unexpected error messages because of the version difference. If this helps, feel free to like the comment

If you are working in a corporate environment and your colleagues are using a certain version of Alteryx to maintain compatibility (i.e. 2023.2 is being used corporate-wide and upgrades are managed by your organization), it would be best to either first check with your IT department to see if a standardized version of Alteryx is distributed via an "Application Store", where the license administration is automatically handled and all you would have to do would be to download the version available in that "Application Store".

If you obtained this license via SparkED and are a student or a teacher, then there are two cases:

If Alteryx is a part of the course you are participating in, if there is a standard version in your school recommended, download that version. If that version is 2022.3 and older, check if you can obtain the installation from your organization as these versions are no longer supported or present for download from Alteryx.

If none of the above applies to you and/or you are either a solo learner or you can download any version you wish:

- If you have admin privileges on your computer, you can download the Admin version. If not, you can download the Non-Admin version. The easiest way to understand this is trying to install a program that needs admin privileges.
- It is recommended that you download the most up-to-date installer, which would be version 2025.1.
- If you are planning to perform predictive analysis on Alteryx, then you can also download Predictive Tools. It must match both the version number and Admin/Non-Admin selection.
- If you obtained this license via SparkED recently, then you will likely have also received an Alteryx Intelligence Suite license. If you wish to utilize Machine Learning, Text Mining and Computer Vision functions, then you will also need to download the Intelligence Suite add-on (which also needs to match your Alteryx Designer version and admin/non-admin), which you can find on your license portal.
