What is bak file used for?

Hi,

Every time, after ran the workflow, it will generate a bak file in the same folder.

I delete them before, nothing change. I would like to know what is this used for ?  Thank you.

I am looking for a option to create a batch file that will have the path specific by the user through the interface so that once the user selects the output folder path, in that path the run command tool will delete the .bak files.
