I've had a couple of lines that were left out of my VLOOKUP so I created a formula to correct the issue, but when I create a union the VLOOKUP isn't being applied to the corrected lines but the the other lines that needed no correction are being picked up. I checked the other excel's data that it's vlooking against and the data points match, so I'm not sure why it isn't being picked up. The formula was so the data points it was vlookuping against matched in the other excel document.
The first screenshot is the formula I'm using to correct the left output from the left join (circled in yellow) and the second screenshot is the vlookup not being applied against the column Dept-Bu to fill in the columns FP&A Lead and Accounting Lead in the union output.

please share some sample data and workflow.
if you do not share sample, no one can help.
I think the only way Alteryx can help with a VLOOKUP issue in Excel is to make sure that the data fields being compared are clean, such as removing all unnecessary whitespace.
Other than that, maybe check in Excel if your VLOOKUP formula is configured properly (e.g. the range_lookup parameter might not be working as you intended), or if Excel is adding hidden characters in your data (I've had cases where I highlighted the data in the formula bar in Excel and discovered some hidden characters).
@Peachyco Let me know if this helps. Basically my vlookup has about 24 lines which are not being picked up. I corrected this by creating a formula
This is what shows within the join output below. It's not matching the data to the 3-Department ownership excel. I reviewed the "3-Department Ownership" document and "Accounting - Okta" name matches to a T.
This is the document's output "3-partment ownership" I am trying to vlookup against and the name matches from what I can see so I'm not sure why it isn't being picked up.
i think the formula should before the join tool. if it is aim adjust the unmatched data.
