Unable to get workflow event script to run on users desktop when using Scheduler.

I have a workflow event that launces a vb script that automates an application on the desktop. Everything works fine when running manually, but I have been unable to get it to work when using Scheduler. The workflow will run successfully, but the script won't work in the foreground as expected. Any help is appreciated, additional info is below:

Version: Alteryx 2021.4

Things Tried: 

• Alteryx Service is set to logon as the user
  • User is an Admin on the PC
  • Local Group Policy updated to allow user to log on as service
  • Local Group Policy updated to allow user to log on as batch job
• Alteryx System Settings is set to logon as the user.
