Tableau Input tool error . Internal Error: Failed to read port assignment

I've been trying to use the Tableau Input tool to read datasources from Tableau Cloud. But I keep getting this error.
I've already deleted and installed the connector multiple times (also tried v1.3.0) without any luck.
Any suggestions on how to solve this issue or on what might cause it?

Designer v2022.1

I reached out to Alteryx support about this, but they were not able to help: said it's a known bug and they're working on it (this was over a month ago). There's no ETA for resolution nor a workaround to use in the meantime. 
I ended up using another software to accomplish the same result. 
I was extremely disappointed by the disservice.
