SOLVED

Row 1 to column header

Hi all - I am working on one of the weekly challenges, challenging in itself but I'm there... or almost.

I have the attached output and all I need to do is move the 1st row to become a column header.  I can export to excel, reimport and use the settings in the input tool but surely there is a better, less messy, solution?!

Thanks all!

Hey @mark007,

All you need is the dynamic rename tool and just select take field names from first row 😄

Hey @mark007, here's a great resource on learning about the Dynamic Rename Tool. 😎

FYI this post just saved my life. I am so happy I found this and it worked like a charm!!

You can achieve the same by configuring the input data tool, you do not need another tool (Which can slow down the speed)

On the input data tool:

at 6. First Row Contains Data: <Uncheck this>

at 7. Start Data Import on Line: <Select the line number>

@dnadarajah1 my headers are at row 18 and my data starts on row 19. I attempted using the input data tool by setting setting Start Data Import on Line to 18 and unchecking the First Row Contains Data box. Is there some easy way to tell it that my headers are at Row 18? Thanks!

@dnadarajah1 Disregard. I feel dumb. I just needed to set it to Row 19 instead of 18 and the headers appeared. Duh.
