ODBC Connection Error

I am trying to connect Alteryx to MYSQL DB via ODBC. Initially I tried System DSN, got an error "COULDNT WRITE TO THE REGISTRY" so I tried connecting to the User DSN, and I get "CONNECTION ERROR:" but no more details. I don't have admin access, used dummy admin credential during setup which is temporary. How do I connect to MYSQL database to load/ pull the data from?

I think this may be a good candidate to report through Mission Control (my.alteryx.com) to ensure Customer Support is aware and can provide insight into resolution. The case submission process will also search the Knowledge Base in case there is a known solution
