Question

I am trying to run a multi-row formula in a workflow, and I keep getting this error:

The field "" is missing. Compare the tool configuration with the input stream.

Here is my expression:

The only field I'm referencing in the expression is "Field1," and this field is clearly in the workflow, as you can see in the "Group By" option. Other posts on similar errors have suggested looking for "implied" fields in the metadata, but I can't find any. There are also no blank spaces or returns in my expression.

What am I doing wrong?

I came across this issue as well - and thankfully fixed it - but must admit that it's very easy to miss as the dropdown looks like it 'belongs' to the 'Create New Field' option.

Alteryx should fix the UI/UX here because its unclear. Simply adding some kind of horizontal line between the bulleted list and the dropdown would be enough.

You need to tell it what field you are updating in the dropdown. That hasnt been selected yet, so it is seen as ""

You should fill the drop down that is under "Create New Field".
