Merging two datasets increase the size of the merged data unexpectedly!

Hello!

I have joined two datasets of 5 and 4.9 MB respectively, but the resultant merged data is unexpectedly in GB. I am wondering if I have done something wrong?

Thank you in advance.

It would depend on your join criteria, but it sounds like you're creating a cartesian product (ie every record is matched with every record in the other table).

The long answer is that you should review your data and your joins to see what's not right and/or what else you should include in the join criteria.
