Join Not Working - Can't seem to solve

Wonder if anyone has any suggestions that might actually work? I'm trying to do a simple join between two datasets based upon employee_id. If I take the two files in excel, I can do the vlookup from one to the other with no issue. I'm tried clearing whitespace, ensured both were set at v_string. 

Duhno, I can't seem to solve for why it's not working. Any suggestions?

I can't share the data unfortunately. It's odd thou, because in excel, you can do the vlookup from one file to the other w/no issues........

Maybe try to match ATTUID to ATTUID without cleaning. Or in the cleaning step, deselect modify case. Join is case sensitive.
