Is the SharePoint List tool useable?

Im having a complete nightmare with the new (2.4.1) version of the SharePoint tool and am about to go back and use the old one as that worked a little better - I have a list with some items in it, I either want to update, or add a new item if it doesn't already exist.  After much faffing about and googling I found that I need to create a column that is indexed in order to allow updates, I did that this morning and can now update records but cant insert new ones.  If I set it to the Update option and select my indexed column, it doesnt insert any new records but does update the existing one (I think), if I change it to upsert, I just get an 'error in adding list items' message.  I then thought, ok lets separate out the updated records (as that works) and us the append option in a different SharePoint tool output to the same list but this then gives an error as well, same as before, 'error in adding list items'. So basically, has anybody got 2.4.1 adding and updating a SharePoint list successfully?

I just tested it further - new tool, append option gives error: Error in adding list item

Change to the old tool, select append option, no error - nothing else changed, same fields everything, new tool wont let me do an append

I’ve had my fair share of problems with the SharePoint tool. Honestly what helped was actually sitting down and doing it with an Alteryx engineer - check with your Alteryx rep if that’s something you can do. Without their support my SharePoint journey would’ve just ended. I even considered coding it with Python just to bypass the SharePoint tool.

nearly have it working... I have 2 SharePoint output tools, 1 to update records and 1 to insert new records.  1st problem was easy to solve, if the workflow runs, it runs them both at the same time and it then seems to go into some loop and never finish.  So fixed that with Block until done - 2nd problem, not solved yet!  If there are no new records to be added, the SharePoint tool then hangs again, the workflow messages console shows the SharerPoint Output tool loaded, but the workflow just hangs till I click stop

@craigja were you able to get SP 2.4.1 connector working to insert new records? I am to read lists successfully, but not able to append. Getting the 'Error in adding list items.' error.

it also doesn't seem to work for 'overwrite', I am getting the same vague "error in adding list items". I'd love to know how to get the tool to work.
