Is OleDB for Connect In-Database Supported?

My company has been advised by Alteryx to utilize In-DB tools whenever possible to improve performance.  My DBA team has advised to use OleDB instead of ODBC to improve performance.  I'm trying to figure out how to implement both recommendations by using OleDB with the Connect In-DB tool.  

I haven't found any help in these articles.

I've attached the steps I'm taking to try this, but I'm starting to wonder if OleDB for In-DB is not supported.  Has anyone successfully used this combination or know for sure if I should give up because it's not supported?

OleDB and ODBC are both supported IN-DB for some DBs (ie SQL Server).

@Mychele did you ever find a solution to this?  I'm trying to use OleDB using a Connect In-DB tool as well....

@abrahamlauer - No, we haven't found a solution.  Thankfully, our primary use case for In-DB was to improve performance and the performance gains we're getting via OleDB (without In-DB) are sufficient. Maybe @apathetichell can advise where I went wrong in the steps I took.

When you drag a new "Connect In-DB" tool onto the canvas and then in the properties pane click on Manage connections you should be able to select the OLEdb option when setting up a new Microsoft SQL Server connection. You might want to check your drivers.
