Inputting picture files into an app

Hi we are trying to develop an app that helps with image recognition on the server.

Where a user can input a picture into the app and some image recognition is performed. We are struggling with a file browse letting the user input picture files, does anyone know how to get around this?

When we press the run as app button the file browse comes up, but when looking in for the file none of the picture formats can't see them for selection. We can see them in regular file explorer. 

We have tried multiple settings for the file browse tool, but open to suggestions

realised it was because standard database file formats was selected, once removed, worked like a charm
