IF with Vlookup formula

Sarath27
8 - Asteroid

=IF(AQ2="Securities",AU2,VLOOKUP(U2,'Mapping tool'!$E$2:$F$19,2,0))

Can anyone pls help me the logic in this formula? I understood Vlookup, but what is the logic for using AQ2="Debt Securities',AU2 before vlookup formula.

Thanks in Advance

This is an Excel formula. It is saying look at cell AQ2 and if it equals "Securities" then provide the result from cell AU2, otherwise, do the vlookup formula.
