How to show the actual columns from a Directory Input tool in Alteryx

Question

Hi,

I am new in Alteryx. I am trying to read files from multiple subfolders.

I have used the Directory Input checking the Subdirectories.

Now my issue is that I am unable to show the actual fields from the excel files in Alterys

Example:

1. Flow

2. Results:

I can see the file name highlighted above but I do not know how to start to show the actual fields in the file.

Hey @Oskido, you'll need to place a 'Dynamic Input' tool on the other side of this, and under 'Read a List of Data Sources', take the field name from the 'FileName' field you have highlighted, choosing 'Change Entire File Path' in the dropdown below it. Upon initial setup, you'll also need to select a file to use as a template (for the schema), under 'Input Data Source Template':

@Oskido To help people out with the numerous ways to bring files/data in with either the Input tool or the Directory tool, I created a workflow with a variety of ways, including what you are trying to do.  Please check it out (attached) & let me know if it helps or if you have any questions :-)
