Alteryx Community,
Let me know if you could help. How to get the data size on Group by column? Also for a table input and output?
Regards,
Himanshu
Hi @himsnshug ,
Judging by the lack of answers in this post, probably I was not the only one who would like to have some more info in order to help.
Can you provide an example of what you are looking for please? I guess that shall help
Thanks

Tanks AngelosPachis for your message.
I have an ETL pipeline which ingests data to DWE. Now each record in ETL pipeline belongs to high level category. And for the monitoring health of the data, we want to track this numbers by daily ETL load.
Similar to, How while running workflow, the alteryx shows progress records in number and the size of the data.
INPUT: The number of records for each high level category and size of that category is something I am looking for.
Category_ID | VAl1 | Val2 | Val3 |
Cat1 | my val | my val | my val |
Cat2 | my val | my val | my val |
Cat1 | my val | my val | my val |
Cat3 | my val | my val | my val |
Output:
Category_ID | Data_Size_in_Kb | Num_of_records |
Cat1 | 6 KB | 2 |
Cat2 | 3 KB | 1 |
Cat3 | 3 KB. | 1 |
I hope above example helps.
Thank you. I am looking forward to your reply.

Agree with @AngelosPachis , more details required for anwsering the query here.
By any chance, you mean the Field Infor Tool?
Hi @himsnshug , I hope this is what you are trying to achieve? The size is in bytes though but still close to what you are expecting.
@Qiu the solution you provided is useful but I tested few cases and would like to inform you that the field info tool just provide you the size of the maximum characters in the field. To support this finding, try using a select tool and check the field size and then check the size of field info tool which is actually the size of field not the data. Therefore, a blob tool will be helpful in this case.
If this is what you are looking for kindly, mark this post as solution.
Thanks.
