How to Collect Telemetry and Usage Information for Desktop Alteryx Workflows

I am exploring options to improve governance and oversight of Alteryx Designer usage within our organization. I would appreciate guidance or best practices on how to collect the following telemetry and metadata from Alteryx Desktop workflows:

  1. User Activity:

    • Who created the workflow?

    • Who last modified the workflow?

    • Who executed (ran) the workflow?

  2. Execution Metrics:

    • How many times has the workflow been executed?

    • When was it last executed?

  3. Data Governance:

    • What data sources are used in the workflow?

    • Is any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or confidential data being used?

    • Is there a way to flag or detect sensitive data types within the workflow automatically?

  4. Workflow Metadata:

    • What tools or connectors are used in the workflow (e.g., input/output types)?

    • Can we extract metadata such as field names, data types, or sample data used in the workflow?

  5. Monitoring and Telemetry:

    • Is there a native or recommended way to capture telemetry for desktop workflows, including usage patterns?

    • Are there APIs, command-line tools, or logging features to support centralized monitoring?

Any insights, documentation, or product recommendations for achieving the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
