How do you extract spatial map layers from a PDF?

Hello Alteryxers!

Im stumped.  Let's see if you super smart people can figure this one out.

Attached is a PDF, clearly made from CAD, so I'm guessing there's got to be a way to get into the layers of the pdf.

The goal is to take the attachment and the output would be the topography contours represented as line or poly-line spatial objects.

The output would ideally write to a .yxdb or .shp format and the only field we need is the spatial field (contour lines).  If we could get the elevation of the contour, that would be super awesome.

Im using designer and don't have the license for intelligence.

Once that that data was put into the PDF, it was rendered as an image and no longer has spatial data associated with it. Even if you used some sort of image recognition software to extract the shapes from the image, building that data as spatial data requires more information about the position and projection. When I've worked with local survey maps like this, they often use a localized projection for high accuracy in the area of interest.

Your best bet would be to reach out to the Carlson, Brigance & Doering Inc engineering/survey firm that created this to request the files from them.
