How do I turn a snippet of a workflow into a macro?

Question

I am a macro noob.  I am trying to turn a section from a workflow into a macro.   The input is from the workflow (not the original input).

I first created a text input and replicated the field names (5 columns) and 1 row of data.  Then using right click, I converted it to a Macro Input tool.   I then saved it and tried to use it in my workflow.  But, instead of one incoming connection it wants two with the error message "The input 'Input23' does not have a connection."   What am I missing?

I was goin to ask if you definitely saved it as a standard macro rather than a batch macro that needs a control parameter input, but I think you would have seen a different error if it was a batch macro.

Question is, what is input23? and what is it connected to?
