Good morning Community,

For your help with this topic,

What is the format that would be used for this PDF to be displayed in an Excel table?

Thank you very much.

Hi @APUENTEFXI

That's going to be difficult. I'd suggest looking at the computer vision tools which come with the Intelligence Suite add on licence. If you've got access to them, then they might be able to parse this pdf.

If not, then you will need to find a way of running an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) on the pdf(s). This is rarely perfect. So depending on how many pdfs you have, the juice might not be worth the squeeze...

Hi Ollie

If I have the tools from the Intelligence Suite but I can't make a map that gives me an Excel table as a result?

Is it possible to make Excel tables with the PDF?

Hi @APUENTEFXI

I didn't get much luck out of the computer vision tools. The pdf-to-text tool was good at getting the non-handwritten text off, but I couldn't get much if any of the handwriting off the pdf.

I then tried a couple of online OCR tools. Amazon Textract behaved very weirdly, giving me text from a completely different form, but Pen to Print did okayish. There were still mistakes, and it would take a fair bit of work to reform the data it extracted into the table you want, but it is possible.
You could experiment with other Handwriting OCR tools, and see if you can find a better one.
These services normally have a price attached to them though, so something to bear in mind.

As I said before, if there are only a few pdfs, it will be more accurate, cheaper, and easier to manually transcribe the information
