Google Sheets Input on Shared Google Drive

Using the google-sheets-input-tool I can only see Google Sheets on my Google Drive.  Does anyone know a workaround to access Google Sheets on a shared drive?

There are some solutions in the above link worth looking into. 

 

The most likely solution is to leverage the Google Drive API instead and follow the example provide in the link above.
