Is there an easier way. I am already using the Join function to add to spreadsheets.

@tmitchell30 , the method @ShankerV has given is pretty much as simple as it gets. The summarize tool is doing the calculation, and the join tool is used to add the results of the calculation back onto your initial dataset. What is stopping this method from working for you?
