Find and Replace, Finding a name with a middle name

wonka1234

Hi,

How come middle names are not allowing my find and replace to work?

R&C Contact = Louis J Steven (F Input)

C_Name = Louis Stevens   (R input)

I dont see the c_Email being replaced in my output.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @wonka1234

I believe you will need the names to match exactly in order to replace them.

You can join the datasets together as long as the names are in order.

You can then use a Replace(String, Target, Replacement) expression within a formula tool to replace the names.

Hope this helps.

Hi @wonka1234

Please be informed that, the find and replace tool does the work as per the our requirements.

In your example shared, you have used Entire Field option.

Hence it does the work of Matching the ABCD_M_XYZ exactly in the file with ABCD_M_XYZ.

We are assuming it can match even if it is ABCD_XYZ which system will not do.

Hence Louis J Steven is not equal to Louis Stevens. This logic applies even if you use filter also.

Output:
