Error 'One of the imput parameters is bad' is showing when activating the license key

Hello,

I support the provisioning of Alteryx Designer for my organization. I am contacted multiple times because of an error showing as 'One of the input parameters is bad. A license key could not be activated. Contact your license administrator for help with licensing'. 

Our users have been following the offline activation process, however I'm wondering if there's a way to prevent this error from happening so they can activate online.
