Email Tool Error | "Func 'curl_easy_perform' failed, ret =8, desc - Weird server reply"

Hello All,

I'm trying to configure an email tool. After reaching out to my organization's IT team, I have been able to configure the email tool with the SMTP details successfully. However, the email tool works intermittently. Sometimes it runs without any issues, but on other occasions, it throws an error with the description -

"Error: Email (73): Record#1: Func 'curl_easy_perform' failed, ret = 8, desc = Weird server reply"

I understand there's another community post (Solved: Weird Server Reply error message - Alteryx Community) where the real root cause wasn't uncovered.

If anyone has any idea about how to avoid this error, it would be much appreciated. Please do let me know.

P.S. - I'm unable to attach an image of the configuration due to certain restrictions. Below is the configuration of the email tool:

1. Encryption - None
2. Use SMTP Authentication is not enabled.

Seems to NOT work up through 2024.1 and in 2024.1 it works if you have one email address and you mess with the separator between emails.  seems not to like ";"

However I am not seeing an issue in 2024.2

This issue is still a problem for me. I have Alteryx Version: 2024.2.1.73 Patch: 2. So it's not the alteryx version. I tried using both amp engine enabled and disabled. Still doesn't work. 

File is is 4.9 MB.  Mail server is throwing an error indicating my message size is more than 50 MBs however this is  incorrect.  My excel attachment in the temp location is 4.9 MB.  The file is a rendered file with two tabs.  Email attachment solution was working with no issues when the rendered file was one tab only. When I added the second tab, email stopped working and is no longer sending the attachment. Below is the error message coming from the mail server incorrectly indicating message size is larger than 50 MB. I confirmed the file size is 4.9 mb. Not sure how this issue can be resolved. I suspect the problem is due to rendered file but I'm not certain. 

Possible reason why the message exceeded the message threshold:

- Message Size is larger than 50 megabytes (including attachments).

- File count is more than 256 attachments.

- File depth in archive is more than 20 deep.

We are still seeing this issue in Alteryx Designer 2024.1.

The issue happens when the email attachment name has some special characters, like "(" and "_".

Is this a tool limitation? Was it solved in recent releases?
