Dynamic Date & Date interface tool

I have made my workflow an application and added the Date tool so that the user could select the date if the application is ran manually. My question is that is it possible to configure the workflow to also run on schedule *in gallery) based on the "prior day" column? I want the workflow to run every night and the filter to pick up the prior day (column) as the filter, but i also want to add the calendar interface tool so that if the report is ran 1 off manually a different date can be selected.

Yes, you can do it on the Gallery. There is option Schedule. If you click on it you can schedule your WF to run on a daily basis on specific time, on specific dates, monthly, weekly, as you wish.

Just ensure that you add Today in formula tool so you will have a date if it is not selected by the user.

I've built several apps with this in mind where it'll be primarily a scheduled job, but have an option to allow someone to do an ad hoc run with customized settings.

In other words, an app will run on scheduler in the same fashion as if you opened the yxwz file in Designer and hit the run button where all interface tools are ignored.

Yes, it is possible to configure your Alteryx workflow to run on a schedule using a "prior day" column when published to the Alteryx Gallery, while also allowing a user to select a different date via the Date tool in manual executions.

just to make sure i understand, i just configure the filter how i would want the schedule to run and then any subsequent manual runs would be over rode by the date input of the application?

Correct, assuming you configure the Action tool to update the condition of the Filter tool appropriately when it's being manually run from Gallery.
