Hi, I am brand new to alteryx. I was wondering if there was a way to click on a cell in excel that has a link to download a file using alteryx. The download tool will not work on that link for security reasons.
If you click on the link in excel the file automatically downloads, however when using the download tool in alteryx it will not work because of a firewall. Just seeing if alteryx could click on that link in excel to fully automate the process.

Hi @JackMack,
When you say that the download tool will not work "for security reasons" what do you mean exactly?
Do you mean you've tried it and it throws an error or something more specific?
Regards,
Ben
Company will not alteryx to download the file through the download tool off of the server. If I copy the download link into chrome it automatically downloads and if I click the link in a cell in excel it also downloads.
A simple no this is not possible would be appreciated.
What happens specifically when you use the download tool? Any error messages? How is it configured?
Loading links through an excel file would still ultimately lead you back to the download tool (or some python code potentially). The 'clicking' you're describing sounds more like an RPA solution than Alteryx.
Hi @JackMack
Please try to run the attached workflow following the instructions inside of the workflow.
It will download a pdf file from Alteryx website using the download tool and the python requests library tool. After it, post the result/error message here, so it will be easier for us to understand what is happening.
I found a way that I could run an excel macro that uses the download link and run alteryxs run command tool
