Does the summary tool automatically round?

HI ,

I am using the summarize tool to calculate IRR.

In excel im getting the below, using IRR formula.

0.00295306660687578

but in alteryx im getting 

0.002953

Is there a way where It doesnt get rounded?

I have the column set to fixed decimals.

I want the full value I get int excel.

Hey @wonka1234,

From my tests it looks like IRR does only calculate to 6 decimal places in both the formula and summarize tools.

To get round this I've attached a workflow using the python tool which calculates IRR to 15 decimal places:

@wonka1234 you had much luck using the Python/R approach? I've posted an idea in the ideas forum to increase the precision of IRR in Alteryx https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Ideas/Increase-the-precision-of-finance-calculatio... the more likes/comments it gets the more likely the developers will add it in the next release.

fyi - this is the core IRR function which Alteryx uses - IRR in the formula tool is also only 6 digits. I assume that the underlying C function call is set for 6 digit precision.

Hey @apathetichell, have to ask out of interest. Do you know what framework Alteryx is built with? How do you know the function is C?

@IraWatt- I assumed that since we can write formula functions as packaged C .dll that the existing functions should be packaged C .dll...
