Does find nearest use geodesic when calculating distances?

Determining true distances accounting for earth curvature, does anyone know if the find nearest tool use a geodesic approach for determining distance from one spatial object to the next?

Yes.  Distance calculations in the FindNearest tool (as well as the Distance tool and formula function) use great-circle distance.
