Hello,
We are starting to use Alteryx in the company yesterday, but we are having a problem when trying to connect to files using the Input Data tool. Does not matter what type or size of file I use, when trying to use the Browse or Select tool, or any other tool, I receive the following message:
Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: AlteryxProcessManager::Start: ConnectNamedPipe: Error in ConnectNamedPipe. The pipe is being closed.
We are two in our team and we both have the same issue.
We installed Alteryx 11.3 x64 and we both have 32 bit Office, 64 bit Windows.
I tried using the 32 bit connection to connect to excel or access but it is not working.
I am following the same steps as the videos to connect to a file, using the same files also, but no luck.
Any idea what is going on?
Thank you very much,

@LuisMar - do you get this error when connecting to a .csv file, or a .yxdb (alteryx database file)? I attached some sample data for you to test

Hello
I am having exactly the same error. I tried changing the data to a CSV. Tried the file you provided. Every time I try to use the Input Data tool I get this:
Error: Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: AlteryxProcessManager::Start: ConnectNamedPipe: Error in ConnectNamedPipe
If you have any ideas it would be awesome.
Thanks!

Hello,
we are having the error with any file, does not matter the extension.
I opened a ticket with Alteryx support team, they told me that could be a McAfee issue, that we have to whitelist Alteryx.
I am working with my IT team. I will post the result as soon as I have an answer.
Thank you,
Luis

Might not be related, depending on what file types you are trying to access; but do you have the Office Engine 2010 installed?
(The link references Access but is for all MS Office file types)

Hello,
As suggested by Jerad from the Alteryx Support Team, we solved this situation. Alteryx processes need to be whitelisted so the software can act as it should.
So our IT Team did this and now the tool is working.
Thank you very much everybody for your help.
This is solved.

I've been getting the message...
Error: Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: AlteryxProcessManager::Start: ConnectNamedPipe: Error in ConnectNamedPipe The pipe is being closed.
...intermittently ever since upgrading to 11.3.
Can you share the processes you whitelisted? (I already have a few Alteryx processes on my list.)
Thanks,
Rod

Hello Rod,
I didn't do it, the IT Team for the company did it. In the final email they said that they whitelisted the executable file needed and then reboot Alteryx, so I guess it should be something like alteryx.exe.
