Data rollover from previous month to current month

Hey,

I have attached same excel. My requirement is I want data to be copied from "MTI Cumulative Current" to new column "MTI Cumulative Current Previous" when I run this next month/ quarter

Say, currently value in "MTI Cumulative Current" is "181892.4" so when I run this next month "MTI Cumulative Current" will have some other value e.g.: 1234567 but "MTI Cumulative Current Previous" should have "181892.4"

This need to be done for a lot of columns, in this i have given 2 columns only "MTI Cumulative Current" and "DivReinv Cum Current"

Can someone help me do this?

You need to have two inputs to your workflow, one that takes in the current data and one that inputs the last month report.

Using the last month report rename the MTI Cumulative Current to MTI Cumulative Previous, and use join to get them together.

Just a note, it says cumulative, but the amounts are not cumulative as there are multiple entries on same day under same Award and same "Dept_at_Rptng_Mth". With this data, you may find it difficult to join back the correct amounts.

@Gaurav_Dhama_  : I am trying to achieve this without including another input. If that is possible and yes "MTI Cumulative Previous" is just the roll over from previous month, it's not as it's name suggest.

Does your input data contain the previous period data? Like snip below.

If yes, then we will just have to split the data into two stream and work with it.

If previous data is not present in the current input, then I am afraid you are left with only two options.

  1. Ask user to upload the previous period file.
  2. Save another output to a permanent location such as SharePoint, Shared Drive, One drive, etc. Every time Alteryx runs, it can pick the most recent file from this location and use it as the previous period data.

This is because Alteryx cannot update any information within itself.

All of the above is under the assumption that you are going to run it on gallery.

If you are planning to run it on designer alone, then you can store the output with a standard name in the containing folder so that every time it runs it overwrites the previous file, this will ensure you have last period data always.
