Counting Occurrences - Where to Start?

I need help deciding where to start in solving a question. In figure 1 you can see that we have a list of transactions by Vendor and we want to know how many times each NIGP Family occurs for each Vendor. We are thinking that image 2 is the end result we desire. Just a quick and dirty workflow is all we need. Nothing elaborate.

So do you want your workflow to perform the count and then pivot - or to pivot an existing column?

you would use summarize to aggregate/group/count and you would use cross tab to pivot wide.
