My output to excel from designer has columns that includes both text and numbers in this manner:
The format of this is "text" which I want to convert to General, please guide!

@patrick_mcauliffe addressed this question in THIS post.
This should allow you to specify the format in Excel, however this is a limitation of Excel and not Alteryx, so you will probably need to set up a template in Excel specifying the type.
