Connector and it's usecases

So I have created a paginated API downloader with Auth token generation macro and an iterative macro. I am looking into the concept of how my workflow will differ if I use these as simple macros or convert them into a connector. 

I would really appreciate any resources that dive deeper into what connectors are, their differences from a macro and how to actually create them.

Also I want to ask if the HTML GUI interface for the configuration panel can be added to any macro/workflow instead of using the traditional TextInput? If yes, then please provide me some resources to go through it..
