Carto to Alteryx Connection

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to connect a dataset published to Carto to Alteryx but haven't any idea where to start.

The dataset I am trying to get into Alteryx, where I can then transform it is the following:

https://cityofphiladelphia.github.io/carto-api-explorer/#opa_properties_public

Has anyone ever done this before?

The API instructions there guide you how to build a query to their database. A valid query looks something like this:

SELECT *, ST_AsText(the_geom) AS the_geom_text FROM opa_properties_public WHERE cartodb_id=7

This string can be used by a Download tool in Alteryx to retrieve the results. The rest of the process is just parsing the returned data. Check out the attached workflow for an example of this in action.

Hi @ejogion

Have you ever used Download Tool?

That's the tool you're going to use to make API requests, which it seems to be the case.

Thanks so much for the detailed solution. Would never have gotten there on my own.

Hi,

I am trying to use the example you attached but the input "Poligon Coordinates.csv" don't seem enclosed.

Could you please send it again? I have the same problem but i have doubts on the input format.

Thank you and regards,

Alessio

Hi @Alessio_Loffredo

I'm not sure you're looking at the same workflow. The attached workflow "20190329-CartoQuery.yxmd" has no file dependencies, just a Text Input which you should be able to open and run on it's own.
