Cant create a macro - macro input cannot be used as a question input for this action type

Im trying to create a macro that will read in all the Alteryx XML files Ive downloaded (via the API) - It needs to be a macro as I get the dreaded  'different schema' error.  When I use the Macro input tool and join it to the Input Data tool I get: macro input cannot be used as a question input for this action type input 

What am I doing wrong?

I think you are looking for a Control Parameter tool at the top instead of a Macro Input tool!
