Did you change the install path in the install wizard to something different from what it defaulted to? If yes, what path in specific did you set it to on your C:\?

Are you installing on a virtual Windows desktop?

no to a virtual desktop, I was trying to add to a folder in my User directory

In your original message, you reference "C:/", but a file path in Windows is usually referenced with a backslash, " \ ". Not sure if it matters, but maybe retry if you did use a forward slash.

Also, if you're trying to install in your user directory, which I assume is somewhere in C:\Users\[username]\.., are you using the non-admin version of the installer?

installer say non-admin, but I suppose i can get the admin version, free trial version had me download the non0admin version

I think you want to keep using the non-admin if you're attempting to install in your user folder somewhere. Unless there's a specific reason for not doing this, I'd suggest trying to install using the default install path the installer pre-populated.

pre-populated path is what I was using initially, still the same error

Apologies. I assumed you had changed it. From Googling the error message, it seems like it may be due how your IT provisioned the security on your machine. pages I found say that you may need to run the installer as an admin. If you have admin rights to your machine, search the web for that error message and follow the instructions on any of the page results returned.

If restricted, your IT team will need to install for you.

Assuming you did Google that error and followed the instructions for launching the installer as previously suggested and still running into that error, only other suggestion would be to contact support@alteryx.com to see if they can help.

Sorry I wasn't able to help more and hope you're able to get the issue figured out.
